
Theta Omega chapter of Phi Beta Psi sorority conducted a meeting via Zoom on Monday evening with 20 members checking in.
President Kalee Alberring conducted the meeting. Treasurer Janet Cooper reported $18,000 had been sent to the national project — cancer research — from proceeds of the February dinner-dance.
A motion was passed to send $250 to the Phi Beta Psi state organization to apply to the scholarship fund.
Taryn Rockey, local scholarship chairwoman, said two Jackson County senior girls’ names had been submitted to the state scholarship committee for consideration. It was learned the state committee will not meet in April as planned but is postponed until possibly June.
Several members showed interest in attending the national convention July 20 through 22 at Wichita Marriott in Wichita, Kansas, home of the Zeta Theta chapter. The theme is "Over the Rainbow for a Cure."
The following officers were elected: president, Joan Trimpe; first vice president, Jackie Hill; second vice president, Jamie Grinstead; treasurer, Natasha Miller; reporter, Kalee Alberring; and corresponding secretary, Colletta Jo Pfaffenberger. The president then named her recording secretary, Mary Reynolds.
