
The following are closings, cancellations and any other changes that have been reported in Jackson County related to the coronavirus pandemic.
Facilities
- Anchor House Family Assistance Center and Pantry in Seymour is delivering food to those in need. To be added to the food distribution list, call 812-522-9308 or text 812-216-2516. Provide name, address, phone number and if you will be home for the delivery. Delivery is once a month. Anyone interested in donating food or funds call 812-522-9308 or visit anchorhouseshelter.org.
- Brownstown Public Library is closed until further notice. Free Wi-Fi is available from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. in the parking lot.
- Brownstown Town Hall is available by phone at 812-358-5500 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. weekdays. Sewer payments can be placed in the drop box or paid online at explorebrownstown.com. To speak to a police officer, call 812-358-2141.
- Community Diner’s regular Monday meals and a cold meal are available to-go. Pick up between 4:30 and 5:30 p.m. at the corner of Broadway and Third streets in Seymour.
- Community Provisions of Jackson County Inc. in Seymour is allowing two people in at a time for the food pantry from 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesdays.
- Crothersville Police Department is available at 812-793-0049. If it’s an emergency, call 911. Handgun and off-road vehicle permits will be issued by appointment in the daytime.
- Crothersville Senior Citizens Center is closed until further notice.
- Crothersville Town Hall is staffed from 8 a.m. to noon Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday by calling 812-793-2311. The town parks’ playgrounds are closed to the public until further notice.
- Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 655 in Seymour is closed.
- Freeman Field Recreational Complex in Seymour is temporarily closed.
- Girls Inc. of Jackson County in Seymour is closed until at least May 1. Check the Facebook page for activities
- Jackson County Courthouse is closed to the public.

- Jackson County History Center is closed until further notice.
- Jackson County Public Library branches in Seymour, Crothersville and Medora are closed. Discovery Bus also will be off the road. Materials, except hotspots, aren’t due back until July 1. Online resources at myjclibrary.org/online-resources-2. Free Wi-Fi in the library parking lot 24/7.
- Jackson County Sheriff’s Department has suspended all jail programs until further notice.
- Jackson County Veterans Service Office is closed through the end of April. Appointments may be made by calling 812-358-6115 and leaving a message.
- Jackson County Visitor Center is closed to the public.
- Knights of Columbus Council 1252 in Seymour is closed and has canceled meetings.
- Muscatatuck National Wildlife Refuge’s visitor center and restrooms are closed.
- Rumpke Waste and Recycling tours are closed.
- Schneck Medical Center in Seymour is not allowing visitors, except for one person with mothers in labor, pediatric patients, surgery patients with sedation, emergency department patients and end-of-life patients.
- Seymour Community Center activities and rentals are canceled until further notice.
- Seymour Department of Public Works office is closed to the general public until further notice. Hazardous material, excluding e-waste, in its original container will be taken as normal at 865 F Ave. East. Televisions or e-waste can be placed at the curb on trash day. Bills will be mailed, and payment by check or money order with the invoice number can be mailed to Department of Public Works, 865 F Ave. East, Seymour, IN 47274.
- Seymour Elks Lodge 462 is closed for all events and meetings until further notice.
- Seymour parks sports facilities are closed to the public until further notice.
Churches
- Brownstown First Baptist Church is indefinitely closed.
- Brownstown United Methodist Church has services on Facebook Live and/or YouTube.
- Central Christian Church in Seymour is livestreaming 9 a.m. Sunday services on Facebook.
- Driftwood Christian Church in Vallonia has canceled April 19 and 26 services but will be streaming services live on the church’s YouTube account at 9 a.m. those days..
- First Baptist Church in Seymour has closed its offices. Call 812-522-1909 or email a staff person (all staff emails are their first [email protected]). Sunday church services online at 10:30 a.m. on Facebook or fbchome.org/media/livestream.
- First United Methodist Church in Seymour is closed through May.

- Medora United Methodist Church service is on Facebook at 10 a.m. Sundays.
- Redeemer Lutheran Church in Seymour livestreaming service at 10:30 a.m. Sundays on Facebook. Sunday service at 6 p.m. on 1390 AM.
- St. Ambrose Catholic Church in Seymour has canceled all Sunday and weekday Masses.
- St. Paul Lutheran Church Borchers has suspended activities through May 1.
- Trinity United Methodist Church in Seymour services at 11 a.m. Sundays on 1390 AM and 99.3 FM and dev.tumcseymour.org.
- Uniontown Baptist Church services have been canceled until further notice.
- Zion Lutheran Church in Seymour is closed until further notice. Services are being streamed online.
Events/Meetings
- Brownstown alumni banquet scheduled for May 9 is canceled.
- Brownstown Exchange Club regular weekly meetings canceled until further notice.
- Cars and Guitars is canceled for 2020.
- Crossroads Acoustic Fest is postponed until Nov. 13 and 14 with a VIP event Nov. 12.
- Hamilton Township alumni banquet is postponed.
- Healthy Jackson County meetings postponed until further notice.
- The Jackson County Antique Machinery Association’s annual show set for May 7-9 has been cancelled.

- Jackson County Community Theatre postponed its production of “Ordinary People.” New dates announced later. The 50th season celebration and Jackie Awards event will be rescheduled.
- Jackson County Emergency Medical Services board’s monthly meeting has been canceled.

- Seymour Main Street’s Happy Glamper and Sip and Stroll events have been canceled.
- Seymour Parks and Recreation has canceled April swim lessons.
- South Central Indiana Christian Men’s Fellowship April meeting planned at Walker Chapel has been canceled. The fellowship continues to support Hilltop Christian Camp, so anyone wishing to donate to the camp by way of the fellowship may make their check payable to SCICMF and send it to Alvin Balmer, 4541 W. - Southern Indiana Compassionate Friends meetings canceled. Athletics
- Brownstown Youth Soccer League has canceled the spring season. Registered players may request a refund or transfer to the fall league.
- Crothersville Youth League will make a decision on the season in mid-May.
- Seymour Soccer has canceled its spring league. To request a refund, visit https://forms.gle/LXav6oXq2UMekYqe7. Those who don’t fill out the form by May 1 will be credited for the fall season. - Seymour Youth League has canceled the recreational baseball and softball season.
Schools
All public and private schools in Jackson County are out the remainder of the 2019-20 school year. They are using eLearning and waiver days.
- Brownstown Central High School’s prom scheduled for May 8 has been canceled.
- Crothersville High School’s prom scheduled for May 1 has been canceled.
- Jackson County Learning Center closed to the public through May 1.
- Sandy Creek Christian Academy has rescheduled graduation for Aug. 22 and the formal for Sept. 4.
- Seymour High School’s prom scheduled for May 15 has been canceled.
