A man with an outstanding Bartholomew County arrest warrant was taken into custody by police after fleeing from his vehicle.
Daniel R. Dickmeyer, 57, of North Vernon was arrested for the warrant and also faces misdemeanor charges of resisting law enforcement and public intoxication.
At 2:53 a.m. Tuesday, Jennings County Sheriff’s Department officers were dispatched to the area of County Road 940W in reference to a single-vehicle accident, according to a news release from Chief Deputy David Turner.
Upon arrival, a witness told officers a man fled from the area on foot. Sgt. Allen Ritchie deployed his K-9 partner, Vampir, to conduct a detailed area search, at which time the dog apprehended the man, who was located hiding in a wooded area several hundred yards behind a residence.
Dickmeyer was taken into custody without incident and transported to St. Vincent Jennings Hospital for treatment of minor injuries.
After being released, he was transported to the Jennings County Jail in North Vernon, where he is being held on a $905 bond.
