Milestone Contractors is expected to begin work on or after Monday on a $2 million road reconstruction project on State Road 250 in Jackson County.
The project will reconstruct a 0.8-mile section of State Road 250 between U.S. 31 and Interstate 65 and be completed in four phases. The project schedule is subject to change.
During Phase 1, which will take place from Monday to mid-April, crews will complete temporary widening on the south side of State Road 250 with minimal traffic impacts. Lane closures with flagging will be necessary at times.
During Phase 2, which will take place from mid-April to late May, westbound State Road 250 will be closed, and only eastbound traffic will be permitted while crews construct westbound lanes. The detour will be State Road 3 to State Road 56 to U.S. 31 to I-65.
Phase 3 will be from late May to late June and will see eastbound State Road 250 closed, and only westbound traffic will be permitted while crews construct eastbound lanes. The detour will be U.S. 31 to I-65.
Finally, Phase 4 will be from late June to late July and will see State Road 250 closed east of I-65 during reconstruction of eastbound and westbound lanes. The detour will be U.S. 31 to State Road 56 to State Road 3.
The intermediate contract completion date is Oct. 31. The project is expected to be complete by June 30, 2021.
