First responders invited to learn about local ministry

Professional and volunteer first responders are invited to an event to learn more about the Jackson County Toolbox Resource Center.

Drop-in time will be from 10:15 a.m. to noon Feb. 14 in the community room at First Financial Bank, 1130 E. Tipton St., Seymour. Goodies will be given to all first responders who stop by.

Karen Browning, executive director and minister of Waymaker Ministries Inc., will be there to answer questions about one of the ministry’s outreach branches, the Jackson County Toolbox. That’s a resource pool for individuals through a navigation team and an emergency housing site. It’s currently in the process of building overnight housing to help Jackson County residents who find themselves without a safe place to stay.

The navigation team will be launching soon and will help guide those that the ministry serves to the resources offered in Jackson County while assisting them with accountability, additional resources and a helping hand in understanding and working through processes.

Waymaker Ministries Inc. is a Christ-centered, nonprofit organization that exists to serve the marginalized of Jackson County through a continuum of care for the physical, emotional and spiritual well-being of each individual.
