Jennings County residents arrested after traffic stop in Brownstown

A traffic stop in Brownstown led to the arrests of two people on drug and other charges, police report.

Jessica Virginia Woods, 41, of North Vernon was arrested for possession of a syringe, possession of methamphetamine, possession of marijuana/hashish, possession of paraphernalia, common nuisance, false identity statement, possession of stolen property and driving while suspended with a prior conviction.

The vehicle she was driving was stolen from Jennings County, and she had a warrant for her arrest out of Jefferson County, according to a report from the Brownstown Police Department.

During the course of the traffic stop Saturday at Vallonia Road and Poplar Street, Officer Ryan Cherry said Woods gave him a false name. Cherry then was able to determine her actual identity.

The passenger in the vehicle, Brian Scott Cooper, 30, of Butlerville, also was arrested. He faces charges of possession of methamphetamine, possession of a syringe, possession of marijuana/hashish, possession of paraphernalia and common nuisance.

Woods was booked into the Jackson County Jail at 2:07 a.m. Saturday and is being held on a $1,505 bond.

Cooper was booked in at 2:34 a.m. Saturday and was released at 11:38 a.m. Monday.
