Boys tennis

Owls tie for fourth at Silver Creek Invitational

The Seymour Owls boys tennis team fought hard at the tough Silver Creek Invitational on Friday and Saturday, coming away tied for fourth with 25 points.

Floyd Central took the invite crown with 54 points, followed by Loogootee and Evansville North. The Owls tied with Silver Creek for fourth place.

The No. 1 doubles tandem of Brandon Hubbard and Will Rinehart had the best finish for the Owls, taking second after falling to Floyd Central 6-2, 4-0. The duo retired in the second set.

Vincent Camboulas and Braden Handloser both finished third at No. 1 and No. 3 singles, respectively. Camboulas won his final match 6-2, 6-1 over Evansville North, while Handloser won over Silver Creek 7-5, 7-5 (10-2).

Isaac Hardin took sixth place at No. 2 singles, and the pair of Trey Hohenstreiter and Andrew Levine were fourth at No. 2 doubles.

Seymour has tough outing at Hoosier Cup

The Owls tied in their first contest 0-0 with Bloomington North but fell to Ft. Wayne Concordia in the night game 2-0. On Friday, the Owls battled tough but fell to Jasper 2-1.

Boys soccer

Owls lose close one to Franklin 

Seymour dropped a tough road game to Franklin 1-0 on Saturday morning.

Both sides were equal on shots and saves with 12 attacks on the goal and five saves.

Donovyn Thomas got the start in net, deflecting those five Grizzly Cub chances.
