Deadline approaches to enter Oktoberfest prince, princess contest


Beta Kappa chapter of Epsilon Sigma Alpha is sponsoring the 2019 Seymour Oktoberfest prince and princess contest.

All boys and girls who are residents of Jackson County and between the ages of 6 and 10 before the Oktoberfest are eligible to enter the contest. This year’s festival is Oct. 3, 4 and 5.

The deadline for all applicants is Saturday. Applicants can start collecting votes as soon as they are registered.

The application is available online at or registrations may be taken over the phone by calling Brenda Hardesty at 812-371-6936 or Beth White at 812-445-3815 after 6 p.m.

The winning prince and princess are determined by who raises the most money. All contestants who turn in money will receive prizes, have their picture in The Tribune and be eligible to ride in the parade. The crowning will be during the opening ceremonies Oct. 3, and the parade is Oct. 5.

The crowned prince and princess will each receive a bicycle provided by Beta Kappa and other prizes.

Funds raised by this project will benefit various Beta Kappa philanthropic projects and ways and means. Some of the annual projects are Jackson County United Way, Community Provisions of Jackson County Inc., Anchor House Family Assistance Center and Pantry, Alzheimer’s Association, Easter Seals and St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
