Setting it straight

To clarify a story about the Smith-Hall Round Barn on the front page of Thursday’s edition of The Tribune, the barn, now owned by George Hall, was built in 1910 by J.L. Geyer for Howard M. Smith. Geyer built three of the four round barns that once existed in Jackson County. Geyer also built barns for John Hess in Driftwood Township in 1909 and John Mahan also in Driftwood Township in 1909-10. The county’s fourth round was built in 1910-11 by Daryl Carter on property in Driftwood Township owned George Stuckwish at the time.
