End of Summer Escape: Kids enjoy one last hurrah before school starts

It was a perfect day at Shields Park for Seymour Parks and Recreation Department’s annual End of Summer Escape.

Around 250 people attended the free event Thursday that featured inflatable slides, an obstacle course and bouncy houses.

There also were games and other activities, free hot dogs, drinks, snow cones and Popsicles. The parks department gave away four backpacks stuffed with school supplies during the event.

Several local youth agencies set up booths, including Teens for Change, the Jackson County Public Library, Jackson County United Way, Head Start and Cops and Kids.
