BROWNSTOWN

Lavonda Joyce (Pollock) Elliott, 78, of Brownstown, IN, with her family by her side and comforting her, met her Lord and Savior, face to face, at 2:10 a.m. on July 18, 2019. She had been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer on June 18, 2019 and fought hard for 1 month. Her battle is over and victory has been won.

Lavonda was born at home on June 28, 1941 to Carl Glenn and Audrey Fern (Bryant) Pollock.

Lavonda was a 1959 Salem High School graduate.

On September 22, 1961 at West Point United Methodist Church in Salem, IN, Lavonda married Francis Elliott and they shared 57 blissful years together.

Lavonda and Francis have co-owned and operated, Elliott Dairy Farm, with Francis’ brother and his wife, Harry and Rita Elliott, their entire married life. She grew up on a dairy farm so she knew what she was getting herself into when she married into the Elliott family, since the farm had been in, the family since 1932.

Lavonda was baptized into the Methodist faith, a member of Tampico Baptist Church, when she was an active member, she taught Sunday School and most recently, attended First Baptist Church of Crothersville where she enjoyed supporting and helping with the Wednesday morning breakfast for the school kids. She went to church her entire life, loved the Lord, and was not particular about what denomination she worshipped in.

Lavonda led the way for women in agriculture, was on the Indiana Farm Bureau District 10 Women’s Leader for 10 years, AMPI Milk Cooperative Women’s Board where she also served as a former chairwoman.

She was the leader, for over 30 years, of Tampico Sunshine 4-H club and really enjoyed being part of the 4-H community. She was a member of the Tampico Home Ec Club. She also enjoyed embroidery work, working in her flowers, canning, baking, and was an exceptional cook.

If you ever asked Lavonda to do something for you, you could consider it done with 110% effort put into it. Helping others was her virtue.

Lavonda was an exceptional homemaker and in earlier years worked at Traveler’s Radio in Orleans, IN and Firestone, on the square, in Salem, IN.

Lavonda is survived by her husband, Francis Elliott of Brownstown, IN, 3 daughters, Janette Kay Elliott, Kimberly Sue (Kevin) Hackman, and Lee Ann (Monty) Silence, all of Brownstown, IN, 4 grandchildren, Nora Silence of Booneville, IN, Kara Ellerman, Spencer Silence, and Zackary Ellerman, all of Brownstown, IN, 1 sister, Carol Treadway of Salem, IN, brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Harry and Rita Elliott of Brownstown, IN, nieces and nephews, Brian Elliott, Bruce Elliott, Gregg Elliott, Lynnette Larison, and Trish Moss.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her nephew, David Treadway.

Friends and family may visit on Sunday, July 21, 2019 from 1:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Adams Family Funeral Home & Crematory in Crothersville, IN and on Monday, July 22, 2019 from 9:30 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at First Baptist Church of Crothersville, 305 E Howard Street, Crothersville, IN 47229 with Jon Pearce conducting a celebration of Lavonda’s life at 11:00 a.m.
