INDOT announces I-65 project changes
A traffic switch and a bridge closure are scheduled this weekend and early next week as part of the Interstate 65 reconstruction project in Bartholomew and Jackson counties.
E and B Paving Inc. will switch traffic Friday evening on the northbound side of I-65 beginning at the 61-mile-marker south of State Road 58 (Walesboro) in Bartholomew County, according to a news release from the Indiana Department of Transportation.
Northbound traffic will move to newly constructed concrete pavement on the northbound side of the interstate at the 61-mile-marker and continue through the project limits near the 64-mile-marker.
The median lane and shoulder will remain closed while additional work is completed. Southbound lanes also will remain restricted until median work is complete.
Beginning Monday, County Road 800N will close over the interstate in Jackson County for bridge rehabilitation. The road will close for approximately 55 days and is expected to reopen by late September.
The detour for the closure is North County Road 1000E to County Road 700N to U.S. 31.
Motorists should continue to exercise caution in the ongoing construction zone between Columbus and Seymour. All work is weather dependent.
