Deepen your spiritual roots to prepare for what’s ahead

The world today has seen plenty of examples of nominal Christianity. People like to talk the talk, but far less tend to walk the walk.

That dichotomy has led to a watered-down version of Christianity and far too many examples of weak, anemic faith. What the world needs now are some radical, on fire, sold out, authentic believers in Jesus Christ.

I would love to see more people become deeply rooted in their spiritual lives. Unfortunately, many seem to lack spiritual depth. They have no spiritual roots or the roots they have are very shallow.

They’re blown around like a tumbleweed with every gust of wind. They dry up when the heat is on. They wither in times of drought.

As individual Christians grow deeper in their faith, they are stronger. Stronger Christians will naturally lead to a stronger church. And when the church is stronger, the greater will be its impact on the world for Christ.

Ultimately, marriages will be stronger, families will be strengthened and individuals will be ready to go to the next level spiritually.

Deeper Christians are ready to do life differently. They are ready to grow. They are ready to sink their spiritual roots deeper. They will do whatever it takes to get closer to God. They don’t want to be who they were in the past.

They don’t want to keep making the same mistakes. They are ready for a revolution to take place in their lives. They are ready for a radical change to happen. They want to get spiritually rooted. They are ready to strengthen their spiritual foundation.

There is so much uncertainty in our world today. Nobody knows what tomorrow might hold. Even though we don’t know what’s going to happen in the future, we can know with a reasonable degree of certainty, everything won’t go the way we want it to go.

We might as well face the facts. There will be heartache, disappointment, sadness and pain. Many of us will experience loss. Some will suffer hardship.

These are just a few of the reasons why it is so important for us to prepare for what’s ahead by deepening our spiritual roots. Deeper roots will enable us to stand strong when the inevitable storms of life come crashing in.

It is wise for us to make preparation for something that we know is inevitable. Over the next few weeks, we will explore some practical ways to deepen our spiritual roots and strengthen our faith in God. Until next time…
