» Where is your farm located?
Five Oaks Farm is located 3 miles west of Freetown.
» How long have you been farming/producing the items you sell at market?
We just started tending blueberries on an established farm last fall. This year was our first year producing maple syrup and will also be our first year tending the orchard.
» Do you farm full time or is this a side business or hobby for you?
This is a hobby farm for us. We love learning new things and being outside.
» What made you want to start your farm?
We have been involved with farming for many years. It is nice to have a place where we can try our own ideas and grow things that we enjoy. We love knowing where our food comes from and enjoy being part of the process.
» What about the market makes it beneficial to you as a farmer?
It is nice to be able to sell our goods on the weekend when we have some time off work.
» What do you enjoy most about selling y our goods locally?
It has been really nice meeting new people in Seymour and other farmers from the area. I really enjoy seeing some of the same patrons each week and plenty of new faces as well.
» Why do you think folks should shop the market?
It is an easy way to get involved with the community and also support local farmers. Local farmers provide fresh food that you don’t have to question how long it has been sitting on the shelf or in transit. Our food comes straight from the farm to the market, the way food should be.
