MEDORA
Carolyn A. Smith, age 89, formerly of Medora entered the Kingdom of Heaven on Sunday, June 23, 2019, at Schneck Medical Center with her loving family by her side.
Carolyn entered this life in Paris, Illinois on April 30, 1930. The loving daughter of the late Ofa and Freida (Scheerer) Airhart.
On October 30, 1955, she married George Merrill “Bussie” Smith in Paris, Illinois and made residence in Medora, Indiana. This happy union of 41 years was blessed with three children, a son, Greg, and two daughters, Leslie and Tiffany. George preceded Carolyn on September 29, 1996. She was a full-time homemaker, a devoted wife, a loving mother, and adoring grandmother. A tremendous joy in Carolyn’s life was spending time with her family and grandchildren. She was a member of Medora United Methodist Church.
Carolyn will be missed by her loving son: Greg Smith and his wife Debby of Mitchell, Indiana, her two loving daughters: Leslie Stevens and her husband Curt of Seymour, Indiana, and Tiffany Smith and wife Sue of Kenosha, Wisconsin; her five grandchildren: Jayme Cone and husband Scott, Ryan Smith, Reed Smith, Blaine Stevens and his wife Heather, and Dalton Stevens and fiance Denise; and three great-grandchildren Brantley Stevens, Owen Stevens and Griffin Cone; three nephews and three nieces, and numerous great-nephews and nieces.
She was preceded in death by her beloved George, her parents, an infant daughter Georgeanne, and a sister, Barbara Sudduth and her husband Bernie, and a sister -in- law Charleen Smith.
A Funeral Service will be conducted by Hague Funeral Home at the Medora United Methodist Church on Wednesday, June 26, 2019, at 11:00 a.m.with Pastor Lemmie Lawrence officiating. Burial will follow at Beem Cemetery of Medora.
Visitation will be held at Hague Funeral Home of Medora on Tuesday, June 25, 2019, from 3:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. and after 10:00 on Wednesday until time of the service at the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be written to the Medora United Methodist Church, Hoosier Christian Village Auxiliary, or to the Schneck Foundation in Carolyn’s name.
