John Ballard Frederickson, 73, of Sparksville, passed away early Tuesday, January 29, 2019, at his residence. John was born on June 13, 1945, at the home of Donald M. and Myrtle (Ballard) Frederickson in Brownstown, IN. John was named after his maternal grandfather, John A. Ballard. His parents and grandparents preceded him in death.

A lifelong resident of Jackson County; he was a 1963 graduate of Brownstown Central High School. John enlisted and served 4 years in the U. S. Marine Corps and was a Vietnam Veteran. After his military service, he attended Lincoln Technical Institute, specializing in transmission rebuilding and repair.

He was employed at Timperman’s and Sterling Ford, in Seymour, as a mechanic. Later, he bought and was the former owner of John’s Marathon Garage in Medora.

John married Sharon (Hochstetler) Frederickson on November 28, 1970, at the Calvary Baptist Parsonage in Seymour, Indiana.

John is survived by his wife of 48 years, Sharon; two sons, Bryan, of Sparksville, and Kevin Frederickson, of Dallas, TX; one brother, Donald Frederickson, of Brownstown, two sisters, Janet Stevenson, of Deer Park, TX, and Michaelee (Allen) Nolen, of Anderson, IN; sister-in-law, Marlyn Meahl of Brownstown; brother-in-law, Albert (Shirley) Hochstetler, of Seymour, IN; two aunts, Jeanne Murphy of Waymansville, IN and Jane Ballard of Brownstown. He also is survived by a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.

His brother, William “Bill” Andrew Frederickson II, died April 16, 2019, in Waynesville, MO. In addition to his parents and grandparents, he was preceded in death by two infant brothers, and a sister, Donna Gayle Jeffers in 1982.

A memorial service will be held a Hague Funeral Home at Medora on Saturday, June 15, 2019, at 2:00 p.m. with Gary Dyer officiating.

Full military rites will follow at the funeral home conducted by the VFW Post 1925, American Legion Post 89, Disabled Veterans 47, and the Korean and Vietnam Veterans.

Friends may call at Hague Funeral Home on Saturday from 12:00 until time of the service.
