Bobby D. Murphy, 84, of Seymour passed away Saturday, June 8, 2019, at home surrounded by his loving family.

Bobby was born in Jackson County in 1935, the son of Edgar and Virginia Morgan Murphy.

On June 9, 1957, he married Loretia “Retia” Murphy.

Bobby was a member of Central Christian Church. He had served on several committees at the church. He served in the U.S. Army from 1956 to 1958. He retired from Cummins Engine Co. in 1995 after 31 years of service. Bobby was a member of the Seymour Men’s Bowling Association, where he served on the board for several years and was inducted in the Hall of Fame as Bowler and Board Member of Distinction in 1994. He bowled for years in the local, state and national bowling tournaments. Bobby served on the Seymour Men’s Board and held positions including president and director. He was a member of the American Legion Post 89 in Seymour. He lived all of his life in Jackson County.

He loved fishing, bowling, traveling and spending time with his family. He loved going to his family’s sporting events and cheering them on. He was a loving husband, father, grand-dad and great grand-dad.

Bobby is survived by his wife, daughters, Terri (Michael) Brown, Kimberly (Robert) Klosterman and Lori (Bob) Nash; grandchildren, Shawn (Tiffany) Brown, Trent (Kimberly) Brown, Derek Brown, Lauren Brown, Chelsey Klosterman, Carmen Adams and Mitchell Nash; great-grandchildren, Logan Richey and Joelin, Caius, Maddox and Tinley Brown; a brother, Larry (Rose) Murphy; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Rita Kay Murphy, and great-granddaughter, Lauren Bayon Brown.

The funeral service will be at Voss and Sons Funeral Service on Thursday, June 13, at 10 a.m. with the Rev. Jon Carlstrom officiating. Burial will follow at Riverview Cemetery with full military graveside rites conducted by Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1925, American Legion Post 89, Disabled Veterans 47, Korean and Vietnam Veterans, all of Seymour.

Friends may call at Voss Chapel on Wednesday from 4 to 8 p.m. and on Thursday from 9 to 10 a.m.
