Chunk of 150S near Medora swept out

A chunk of a county road in Carr Township in western Jackson County was swept out Wednesday evening.

Commissioner Drew Markel said a 15-foot section of County Road 150S near Medora was affected.

Markel said heavy rainfall and floodwater from a nearby creek caused the wash out the culverts in the road.

Those who use the road to reach U.S. 50 will have to seek an alternate route, he said.

Markel said he was unsure how long the roadway will be closed, but employees with the Jackson County Highway Department will begin work as soon as possible.

”It will be tomorrow at the earliest,” he said. “Water is running too fast. Luckily, no one drove through the water.”
