Loyal Devoir Society meets at Central Christian Church

The Loyal Devoir Society of Central Christian Church in Seymour met April 28 with President Paula Stafford calling the meeting to order with 19 members present.

Jan Brock gave devotions on birthdays.

Judy McDonald read the secretary’s report, which was approved. Barb Bentley gave the treasurer’s report in the absence of Betty Guinn.

Both the bake sale and the sorority dinner were a success. Bonnie Koontz said she was only taking special orders. There were no flowers or cards sent.

Stafford read an article about a nurse who served during World War II as a memorial to women.

Stafford thanked everyone who helped with the bake sale and sorority dinner.

In new business, Stafford wanted some ideas on finding another fundraiser. She gave a couple of her ideas, and Lucy Dembek suggested an auction and maybe a dinner.

Forks and glasses were needed for the kitchen. Barb Bentley made a motion to buy 72 forks and glasses. Helen Horton gave the second. It was passed by the group. Dembek will buy them.

The meeting closed with the Mizpah Benediction.

A birthday sheet cake and dishes of fruit were served by Group 1.

The next meeting will be June 25.
