Georgia LaVien Luttrell, 91, passed away at the Covered Bridge Health Campus in Seymour at 9:55 p.m. Friday, May 31, 2019. She was formerly of Tipton, IN and was a graduate of Tipton High School.
She attended the First of Baptist Church of Tipton and First Baptist Church of Elwood and later became a member of Vallonia Christian Church. Georgia was a Catalog Clerk for JCPenney. She had been a 4-H Leader and the activity director at Millers Merry Manor in Tipton. She loved to square dance and visit Mitchie’s Diner and Tiemeyers Farm Market.
Georgia was born on January 20, 1928 in Elwood, IN to the late Oscar Earl Hoover & Bertha Johnson Hoover. On August 19, 1947 in Tipton she married John Robert Luttrell and he preceded her in death on June 26, 2005. Survivors include 3 children, Jim Luttrell of Vallonia, Vanessa Courtney of Anderson, and John Steven Luttrell of Oklahoma; 6 grandchildren, Robert Luttrell, Jennifer Courtney, Amber Luttrell, Jocelyn Hays, Kenneth Luttrell, & Amanda Luttrell; 4 great grandchildren; and a sister, Jo Jarvis of Oregon.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; a son, Robert Oscar Luttrell; brothers, Carmel & Gene Hoover; & sisters, Althea Hoover, Lloyd Carmichael, Dorothy Miller, Esther Humphries, Evelyn VanBriggle, Gretchen Fakes, & Sara Weese.
Funeral Services will be conducted at Johnson Funeral Home, Vallonia on Wednesday, June 5 at 6 p.m. with Chris Criminger officiating. Friends can visit the family at the funeral home on Wednesday from 4 p.m. until service time. A graveside service will be conducted on Friday, June 7 at 11:30 a.m. at the Fairview Cemetery in Tipton, IN. Memorial contributions may be given to Vallonia Christian Church.
