Brownstown Pool set to open Saturday
Opening day at the Brownstown Pool is Saturday.
The season at the facility along West Bridge Street will run through Aug. 3. Hours will be 12:30 to 7 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays (closes at 5:30 p.m. after July 21) and 12:30 to 5:30 p.m. Fridays through Sundays.
Daily admission is $3 for adults 18 and older, $2.50 for ages 3 to 17 and free for age 2 and under when accompanied by an adult. Children under 10 and nonswimmers must be accompanied by a responsible adult at all times.
Swim diapers must be worn in both pools for diaper-aged children. The diapers may be purchased at the pool for $1, and life vests also may be rented for $1. No regular diapers are allowed.
Pool passes may be purchased at Brownstown Town Hall, 200 W. Walnut St. They are $90 for a family of four (add $10 for each extra person) and $35 for an individual pass.
People wanting swim lessons also may sign up at the town hall. The cost is $65 for 10 half-hour private sessions.
Those 14 and older may do lap swimming at the pool from 6 to 7:30 a.m. Mondays through Fridays. It’s $1 per swim with pool passes being accepted.
The pool also may be rented for birthdays, private parties and special occasions. Payment is due at the time of scheduling. Reservations must be made in advance by calling 812-358-5500. The concession stand is available to be open upon request.
Pool manager Jamie Temple said she plans to offer movie nights at the pool again this year, but dates have not been set. Also still being planned out is a new activity, water Zumba.
