Braves fall to Panthers in Sectional 30 semis

CORYDON

Corydon Central scored two runs in the top of the seventh inning to break open a 1-1 tie and beat Brownstown Central 3-1 in Sectional 30 semifinals Wednesday.

The Braves took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the fourth inning, as Alli Reynolds sacrificed to score Zoe Fountain.

Corydon answered with a run in the fifth, with Grace Erwin managing an RBI single.

In the seventh, the Panthers reached on an error before Alexis Orme homered to center field to give her team the lead.

The Braves went down in order in the bottom of the seventh, ending its season with a record of 14-12.

Corydon outhit BC 6-4 in the game. Addy Krieger led the Braves with two hits.

Freshman Maddison Brittain pitched seven innings. She recorded one strikeout while walking two and giving up two earned runs.

Brownstown’s lone senior, Claire Poulton, graduates from the program.

The Panthers will face Silver Creek in the sectional finals tonight.
