SOFTBALL

Cougars shut out Raiders 7-0

Trinity Lutheran freshman Kamzi Gross struck out 10 batters while giving up one hit in a 7-0 win over South Ripley Thursday.

The Cougars led 3-0 after one inning and added scores in the second, third and fourth.

Rain ended the game in the fifth inning.

Jaryn Holtsclaw and Gross each had three hits and Savannah Harweger recorded two.

Trinity (8-9) hosts New Washington Saturday.

Braves beat Bluejackets

BROWNSTOWN

Brownstown Central posted a 10-1 win over Mitchell in a rain-shortened game Thursday.

The game was called in the sixth inning because of the weather.

The Braves (13-11) led 2-1 at the end of the first inning, but busted the game open in the second by scoring six runs.

Claire Poulton and Chloe Carlin each finished with three hits, as the Braves outhit the Bluejackets 9-2.

Maddison Brittain pitched all six inning, recording nine strikeouts, one walk and one unearned run.

BASEBALL

Bedford edges Trinity Lutheran

BEDFORD

Bedford North Lawrence scored runs in the fourth, fifth, and sixth innings in a 3-1 win over Trinity Lutheran Thursday.

Neither team scored through the first three innings, but the Cougars led 1-0 in the top of the fourth before a lightning delay.

Trinity was outhit 8-3 in the game and the Cougars had three errors.

Jack Marksberry took the loss on the mound, pitching five innings.

The Cougars (10-9) go to Austin tomorrow.
