Seymour man dies in crash on I-65 south of Uniontown

A 72-year-old Jackson County man died Tuesday as a result of the injuries he sustained in a crash on Interstate 65 just south of the Uniontown exit.

Randall F. Carr of Seymour was pronounced dead at the scene by an official with the Jackson County Coroner’s Office after the single-vehicle crash reported shorty before 5 p.m. near the 40-mile-marker.

According to a news release from Sgt. Stephen Wheeles with the Indiana State Police, Carr had been driving a 2005 Ford truck south on the interstate when for an unknown reason he drove off of the west side of the road. The truck hit an embankment and rolled over before coming to rest in a field.

Toxicology reports are pending, and the crash remains under investigation, said Wheeles, who is the public information officer for the Versailles Post.

The wreck was investigated by Trooper Korry Clark with the state police’s Versailles Crash Reconstruction Team. He was assisted by other state troopers, Crothersville Police Department officers and personnel with the Crothersville-Vernon Township Volunteer Fire Department, Jackson County Emergency Medical Services and Howard’s Wrecker Service.
