Caleb Bollinger, Brownstown Central track , senior

Accomplishments this past week: Bollinger cleared 12-0 to win the pole vault at the Salem Invitational. He also helped the Braves place 2nd for the sprinters medley relay and 3rd in the 4×100 relay at the Big Blue Relays.

How were you able to perform to your fullest potential this past week?

What did you do well?

“Practiced hard and stayed focused.”

Do you do anything special to prepare?

“Went to Bloomington to practice.”

Favorite drink: chocolate milk

Favorite food: chicken and dumpling soup

Favorite music genres: country, rap

Favorite book: “Brian’s Hunt,” by Gary Paulsen

Favorite class: pre-cal

Role model: Kyle Whistler (brother)

Best advice?

“Never give up.”

If you could travel anywhere and why?

“Bahamas. It’s beautiful there.”

Athletics goal?

“Place in state for pole vault.”

Lara Skaggs, Seymour track and field, sophomore

Accomplishments this past week: Skaggs placed 1st in hurdles and high jump, 2nd in long jump and pole vault at the Big Blue Relays.

How were you able to perform to your fullest potential this past week?

“The team didn’t get a chance to compete for two weeks because of weather, so I made sure I practiced extra hard and tried to perfect my form.”

What did you do well?

“In all my events I was able to execute and use good form even though the track and field conditions were a little slick.”

Do you do anything special to prepare?

“I make sure to have a positive attitude all day, on meet days, so I can be in the best mood during meets.”

Favorite drink: Water

Favorite food: Chicken and noodles

Favorite type of music: “Anything I can sing to!”

Favorite book: “Running Full Tilt,” Michael Currinder

Favorite class: Algebra 2

Role model: Mom

Best advice?

“Before every event, whether you are running, throwing, or jumping, envision yourself going through every motion and nailing your form. Vision yourself doing what you know you can do. That is what really helps me.”

If you could travel anywhere and why?

“Anywhere that has a beach, I have always loved going to the beach with my family, it is so beautiful and relaxing.”

Athletics goals?

“Make it out of Sectionals, Regionals and then to State. Beat my long jump PR of 16-6 and high jump PR of 5-1.”
