Cougars edge Jets
Trinity Lutheran picked up an 8-7 win over Hauser Tuesday.
The Cougars (6-7) led 8-4 after four innings before the Jets rallied for three runs in the sixth to cut it to one. Trinity buckled in from there to pick up the senior night win.
Genesis Munoz led the Cougars with four hits, Bailey Reynolds had three and Kamzi Gross added two. Munoz, Reynolds, and Jaryn Holtsclaw each hit home runs.
Kamzi Gross pitched a complete game, striking out eight while giving up 10 hits, one walk and five earned runs for the Cougars.
Braves drop MSC contest
Silver Creek topped Brownstown Central 2-1 in a Mid-Southern Conference game Tuesday.
The Dragons scored runs in the fourth and sixth innings. The Braves answered with a run in the bottom of the sixth frame, but couldn’t push another run across home plate.
The Braves were outhit 5-4 in the game, and both teams had an error.
Maddison Brittain took the loss in the circle, pitching 3.1 innings.
BASEBALL
Braves beat Bluejackets
Brownstown Central defeated Mitchell 5-2 in a non-conference game Tuesday.
The Braves (13-4) scored runs in the first and fourth inning before collecting three in the top of the sixth. The Bluejackets responded with two runs in the bottom of the sixth, but weren’t able to surmount the deficit.
Matthew Garland led the Braves with two hits while Jalen Tiemeyer and Isaiah Wineinger each had doubles.
Eli Brown pitched six innings in the win. Brown struck out nine while giving up seven hits, one walk and two earned runs.
GIRLS TENNIS
Lions deal loss to Cougars
Salem swept the doubles positions in a 4-1 win over Trinity Lutheran Tuesday.
Sarah Lemming, at No. 2 singles, was the lone winner for the Cougars. Lemming came out on top 6-4, 7-6 (6).
Trinity dropped to 5-10 with the loss.
