May Day Festival planned at Beck’s Mill

Beck’s Mill’s fifth annual May Day Festival will be from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at the mill, 4433 S. Beck’s Mill Road, Salem.

There will be blacksmithing, pottery, wooden cutting boards, macrame, walking stick carving with an old tool display and corn milling demonstrations.

Children can enjoy face painting, rock painting, potato stamps, Mother’s Day flower art and stories from Johnny Appleseed himself.

Six different artists/bands will provide music throughout the day.

Parking lot activities include the 38th Indiana Company D Civil War living history re-enactors doing drills, camping and more. There also will be a flea market, craft vendors and a chicken barbecue.

Adult admission is $5, and children age 16 and under are admitted free with a paid adult.

Mother’s Day will be celebrated Sunday with all visiting moms receiving a sample bag of cornmeal.
