BC girls win invitational

BROWNSTOWN

Brownstown Central’s girls track and field team scored 133 points to win the seven-team Salem Invitational Tuesday.

Scottsburg were the runners-up with 113 points followed by Mitchell (93), Salem (76), Rock Creek Academy (70), Eastern (64) and Paoli (56).

Ashley Schroer was the champion in both the shot put (38 feet, 6 inches) and discus (105-11) for the Braves and Kaelyn Johnson took first in the 1,500 (5 minutes, 40.80 seconds) and 3,000 (12:25.50) races for BCHS.

The Braves’ Halle Hehman was second in the 800 (2:44.80), Jazz Yeadon finished runner-up in the 400 (1:04.80) and Brooklyn Snodgrass was second in the pole vault (8-6).

The Braves’ 4×800 relay team won its race in 11:28.40.

In the boys’ competition, Eastern won with 118.5 points, Mitchell took second with 112.5 and Brownstown Central was third with 109. Paoli (103), Scottsburg (94.5), Salem (54.5), and Rock Creek (19) rounded out the team scores.

Caleb Bollinger had the top clearance in the pole vault at 12-0 and teammate Luke Wood was second at 11-0.

The Braves’ Derek Thompson was runner-up in the high jump at 6-0 and Dustyn Kocsis threw 120-9 for third in the discus.

Brownstown’s 4×800 relay was second (9:34.40) and the 4×100 team finished third (46.30).
