Free fishing day planned at Maumee Scout camp

If you’re a kid who likes to fish or know a kid who might, Hoosier National Forest officials invite you to a children’s fishing day from 8:30 a.m. to noon May 11 at the Maumee Scout Reservation north of Norman off of County Road 925W in northwestern Jackson County.

If you have never fished, this is a great place to start with help from experienced anglers. If you already fish, you will discover new tips and techniques from the experts. Lunch, poles, hooks and some bait will be provided, but feel free to bring your own supplies.

Prizes, games and fishing activities will be offered. This event is limited to the first 75 kids ages 15 and under who preregister. Register by calling 866-302-4173 or register in person from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Mondays through Fridays at 811 Constitution Ave., Bedford.

You also register by printing the form at fs.usda.gov/hoosier and mailing it to 811 Constitution Ave., Bedford, IN 47421 or emailing it to [email protected].

Co-sponsors include the Indiana Department of Natural Resources, National Wild Turkey Federation and Boy Scouts of America.
