Seymour choirs earn gold ratings at state qualifier

The Seymour High School Sirenas advanced women’s choir and Varsity Chorale advanced mixed choir participated in the Indiana State School Music Association state qualifier competition Saturday at Franklin Central High School in Indianapolis.

Kyle Karum, director of choral music, said the choirs’ scores greatly improved from 2018 and both groups walked away with gold ratings in performance and in sight-reading.

Other schools competing were Avon, Fishers, Brownsburg, Perry Meridian, Franklin Central and more.

The Seymour choirs soon will find out if they advance to the state finals.
