Cancer survivors invited to annual dinner

The American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life of Jackson County invites all cancer survivors to the 2019 Sock It to Cancer Survivor Dinner on May 18 at The Point, 311 Myers St., in Seymour.

Survivors can attend for free and may invite as many people as they choose for a $5 donation for each guest. Attendees are encouraged to dress in their favorite 1950s attire.

Doors open at 5:30 p.m., and the dinner and program with guest speaker Randy Ollis begins at 6:15 pm. Invitations were mailed; however, survivors not receiving the invitation may contact survivor/caregiver co-leaders Amberly Brewer at 812-569-0630 or amberly080809@gmail or Stacey Brummett at 812-216-9064 or [email protected]. Survivors must RSVP to Stacey Brummett by Saturday.

Cancer survivors also are invited to participate in the survivor lap immediately following the opening ceremonies of the Relay for Life of Columbus at 11 a.m. June 22 at Donner Park in Columbus.

After registering, survivors may pick up an official event T-shirt at the May 18 dinner or at Donner Park on June 22 while supplies last. All family members, friends and caregivers are invited to join survivors on the second lap. Everyone is invited to stay for food, activities and entertainment.

The Luminaria Ceremony and reading of names in honor or memory of those with cancer begins at 9:30 p.m. and is followed by closing and cleanup.
