Jerry Wayne Rice, 76, of Seymour, died on Thursday, April 25, 2019 at the VA Hospital in Louisville, KY. He had been seriously ill for 2 years. He was a graduate of Vallonia High School, where he enjoyed playing basketball.
Jerry was an honorably discharged veteran of the U.S. Air Force. He was a member of the Vallonia United Methodist Church. He owned and operated Rice Express/Sheildstown Transport and was the former owner of R & R Bar & Grill. Jerry was a huge IU fan and enjoyed golfing.
Jerry was born on April 1, 1943 in Vallonia to the late George & Myrtle Fleenor Rice.
Survivors include 3 sons, Tony Rice of Cincinnati, Kevin Rice of Columbus, & Shaun Rice of Brownstown; grandchildren, Michael, Mitchell & Jessica Rice; 4 great grandchildren, a brother, Ronald V. Rice of Brownstown; 2 sisters, Pat Thomas of Medora & Winona Reed of Brownstown.
He was preceded in death by his parents, 11 brothers, 2 sisters, and a grandson Ryan Rice.
Friends may visit the family at Johnson Funeral Home on Tuesday, April 30th from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. At 1:00 p.m. we will go in procession to Vallonia Cemetery and have military graveside rites.
