
Pianist, singer and songwriter Matthew Ball, also known as the Boogie Woogie Kid, will perform at 2 p.m. May 5 at Crossroads Community Park in downtown Seymour.
The Jackson County Public Library and Seymour Parks and Recreation Department are hosting the free event with funding from Friends of the Jackson County Public Library.
In the event of rain, the show will be at the library, 303 W. Second St., Seymour.
A national touring artist, Ball has a family-friendly program of popular American music from the swing era of boogie, blues, roots and jazz and song favorites from the 1920s, ’30s and ’40s.
Ball is a Michigan attorney turned musician with more than 4 million views on YouTube. Anyone interested in his music can find videos and information online at boogiewoogiekid.com.
Ball graduated from Oakland University and University of Detroit and holds degrees in music, history and law. He trained classically at Oakland University with internationally renowned classical pianist Flavio Varani, a graduate of the Paris Conservatory and Manhattan School of Music who traced his own pedigree of study back to Frédéric Chopin.
Ball previously performed for the Jackson County Public Library in November 2014.
