Richard L. “Dick” Hillenburg


Richard Leon “Dick” Hillenburg, age 77 of Seymour, passed away on Easter morning at St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis. Born March 17, 1942 in Seymour, he was the son of Ancil and Norma (Kindred) Hillenburg.

On December 9, 1967 in Taylorsville, Indiana, he married LaDonna Sue Sutherland, who preceded him on December 10, 2015.

A member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, Dick retired from Cummins after 42 years of service. He worked at the Cummins Technical Center in Columbus and Seymour.

After retirement, Dick went to work at SGS in Columbus and was still employed there. Dick served his country in the U.S. Air Force and he specialized in photography.

Dick enjoyed working on TVs and radios, working on cars, and used to like riding motorcycles. He graduated from Clearspring High School in 1960, where he played baseball and basketball.

Survivors include his children, Brian Hillenburg of Lexington, Kentucky, Kim Malone and Kevin Culp of Seymour. Richard also leaves behind a brother, Kenny (Frieda) Hillenburg of Kurtz; two grandchildren, Jamie (Marc) Baughman and Amanda (Andy) Bowman; also four great-grandchildren, Hayley and Dylan Howell and Maddie and Brady Bowman; also several nieces and nephews.

Richard was preceded in death by his parents, wife, brothers Gerald (Jerry) and Mark and a son-in-law, Mike Malone.

Pastors Ralph Blomenberg , Philip Bloch, and Jimmy Rodriguez will conduct services at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 25, 2019 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Seymour. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until service time at the church.

Burial will follow at Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery where Dick will be remembered with military honors. Memorials can be made to Immanuel Lutheran Church. Friends can sign the guest book or share a memory with the family at
