A county road in north central Jackson County has been closed after it cracked and slid.
Highway Superintendent Jerry Ault said County Road 875N in Hamilton Township has closed from Base Road to County Road 925. He said the road has cracked and slid about four inches, making it unstable.
The department has placed barricades at each intersection to let motorists know about the closure.
Ault said motorists should avoid the area of the hill near the closure because heavy rains may make it less sturdy.
It’s the second road closure in the county this week. State Road 235 was closed Thursday after a portion of it collapsed just east of the Medora Covered Bridge. The Indiana State Highway Department has worked to restore that stretch of road.
