SEYMOUR
Mrs. Lowima Olinda (Hageman) Schneider, 98, of Seymour, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 17, 2019 at the Lutheran Community Home. She was born at her family’s farmhouse in the Sauers area on February 7, 1921 to the late Henry and Lydia Hageman.
Lowima was baptized at Saint John Lutheran Church Sauers on February 20, 1921 and was confirmed there on April 14, 1935. Her confirmation verse was Revelation 2:10. She graduated 8th grade on May 24, 1935 and high school on May 25, 1939.
She married Norman M. Schneider on October 4, 1952, who preceded her in death on March 19, 1990. She was a dedicated and loving Christian wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, and friend.
She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, Seymour and was active in Ladies Aid 3. In October of 1983 she retired from The G.C. Murphy Company.
After her retirement, she spent time tending to her beautiful flower and vegetable garden. Every day, she walked several miles around the neighborhood sharing stories and conversing with her dear friends.
She enjoyed many summers camping and boating with friends and family at Hardy Lake. She also enjoyed vacationing in Florida and Myrtle Beach with her family. She was the frequent hostess for family dinners and special occasions.
She loved to bake and her delicious sugar cookies made it all the way to Concordia University Ann Arbor, Ball State University, Purdue University, and San Francisco, California to be enjoyed by her granddaughters and their friends.
Every Christmas, she would impart her baking knowledge on her granddaughters as they spent hours in her kitchen making and decorating cookies to be enjoyed throughout the Christmas season. For the past several years, she spent every Sunday night with the whole family and never wanted to miss a Sunday night dinner.
She is survived by her son, Hugh (Jeanie) Schneider; her sister, Mildred Rahn; her three granddaughters, Heather (Grant) VonDielingen, Amanda (Joe) Easton, and Katlynn (Luke) Schnitker. She loved spending time with her five great-grandchildren: Taylor, Bennett, and Britton Easton, Lyla Olinda, and Henry Schnitker. Also surviving are sisters-in-law Janice (Richard) VonDielingen and Mary Schneider. Several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and extended family members also cherish her memory.
Lowima is preceded in death by her parents, sisters, and brothers-in-law, Dolores (Oscar) Siefker, Luella (Hugo) Schepman, Eunice (Marvin) Hehman; brother, Leroy (Lois) Hageman; and brother-in-law, Harold Rahn.
