
Indiana University-Purdue University Columbus will be the site of a panel discussion about the university’s role in the region’s education and economy at 6 p.m. May 2 in the Columbus Learning Center lecture hall.
The free event, open to the public, is entitled "Strengthening the Community through an Educated Workforce: A 50-Year Commitment to Building Brighter Futures for All."
The discussion is aligned with university’s 10-year Welcoming Campus Strategy and is being presented as part of Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis’ Welcoming Campus Initiative. It commemorates IUPUI’s 50th anniversary and its collaboration with IUPUC to create higher education opportunities for students in south central Indiana.
Kathy Oren, executive director of the Community Education Coalition of Columbus, will moderate the discussion, and panelists include John Burnett of the Community Education Coalition of Columbus, Drew Klacic of the IU Public Policy Institute, Daniel Noel of Columbus Regional Health, Srikanth Padmanabhan of Cummins Inc., Jim Roberts of Bartholomew Consolidated School Corp. and Amy Conrad Warner of IUPUI.
