Cross Walk scheduled next week in Brownstown

The Brownstown Area Ministerial Association will lead a daily walk of the cross through the streets of Brownstown beginning Monday.

The walk will gather each day at the designated location beginning at noon. There will be a devotional thought and prayer, and then those who gather will carry the cross to the next designated location.

The Cross Walk has been going on in Brownstown for the past 15-plus years and has been a part of the activities of Holy Week leading up to the celebration of the resurrection of Jesus on Easter.

This year, the group will gather and begin on the front steps of the Jackson County Courthouse and progress to the Nazarene church on Commerce Street. Anyone in the community is invited and encouraged to be a part of this experience.

On Tuesday, the group will begin at the Nazarene church and end at the Methodist church.

Wednesday will begin at the Methodist church and end at the Presbyterian church. On Thursday, the cross will travel to Brownstown Christian Church, which also is the site of a Good Friday service at 6 p.m. April 19.

Those attending should plan to wear comfortable walking shoes and appropriate weather gear.
