Special Olympics to benefit from golf scramble

Special Olympics Indiana Jackson County is organizing its inaugural golf scramble, set for 1 p.m. April 27 at Hickory Hills Golf Club, 1509 N. State Road 135, Brownstown.

Teams of four to six people are being accepted. The cost is $60 per person, which includes nine holes of golf, a golf cart and a pulled pork lunch.

To register a team, call Zach Spicer at 812-595-9162 or Devin Stuckwisch at 812-528-8385. There is a limit of 50 participants.

During the event, teams also can buy a yardstick for $20 that can be used once during the scramble.

Hole sponsorships for $100 also are being sought. Individuals, couples, families, businesses, organizations and industries are invited to be a sponsor. Signs recognizing the sponsors will be placed at holes around the course on the day of the event.

The deadline to be a hole sponsor is April 19.

Special Olympics Indiana Jackson County will receive 100 percent of the proceeds from the hole sponsorships and yardsticks and 50 percent of the player fees. Money raised will help athletes attend the Summer Games in early June in Terre Haute.
