Mr. Steven Harvey Storey, 76, of Seymour, passed away Friday, March 22, 2019 at home surrounded by his family. He was born in Jackson County to the late William H. “Doc” and Helen (Huber) Storey.
Funeral services will be at Voss & Sons Funeral Service on Wednesday, March 27 at 10 a.m. with Rev. Steve Muster officiating. Burial will follow at Reddington Cemetery.
Family and friends may call at Voss & Sons Funeral Service on Tuesday from 4 to 8 p.m. and Wednesday from 9 a.m. until time of service.
On March 11, 1962, he married Martha Lahne; she survives.
Mr. Storey was a founding member of Hoosier Hills Motorcycle Club. Mr. Storey was a well known builder of quality homes for over 45 years. He built hundreds of homes in Jackson and surrounding counties. Some customers would wait several months or even a year for him to start their homes because of his reputation for quality and not taking short cuts. After retiring in 2005, he began a craft and furniture restoration business. His work can be found in homes throughout several states.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Martha Storey; son, Peter (Chelley) Storey; granddaughter, Cera (Matt) McCord; great-grandchild due in April; and lifelong friend, Roger Mellencamp, was always there when needed.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Gary Lee Storey and William Lee Storey in infancy; and sisters, Pat (Lowell) Beineke and Sally Lauster.
