VALLONIA

Janet Eileen Benge, 82, of Vallonia died at 2:15 p.m. on Saturday, March 16, 2019 at IU Methodist Hospital, Indianapolis. She had been ill for 2 months.

Janet was a member of the Uniontown Baptist Church. She was a Special Education Teacher at Vallonia and Brownstown Central Schools. Janet was an avid reader and was a former owner in The Book Place in Columbus. She also loved to quilt and play cards.

Janet was born on October 10, 1936 in Lake County, IN to the late Harry Miller & Mary Watkins Miller. She married Harry Benge on January 17, 1958 in Seymour and he preceded her in death.

Survivors include 3 daughters, Shelly (Michael) Morey of Grapevine, TX, Dana Benge of Brownstown, & Karen Benge of Vallonia; grandchildren, Candida Benge, James Ty Wheeler, Rhiannon Benge, Ariana Rock-Benge, Eric Benge, Jessica Marcott, Nathan Watts, & Whitney Harris; 8 great grandchildren; a brother, David Miller of Michigan; 3 sisters, Helen (Lester) Neal of Seymour, Rowena Martin of Seymour, & Beverly (Don) Fargo of Indianapolis.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a brother, Howard Miller, 2 sisters, Florence Clore & Patricia Buffenbarger.

Funeral Services will be conducted Wednesday, March 20 at 11 a.m. at Johnson Funeral Home with Irvin Benge officiating. Friends may visit at the funeral home on Tuesday, March 19 from 4 to 7 p.m. and Wednesday from 10 a.m. until service time. Burial will take place at the Vallonia Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be given to Indiana University Cancer Research or to the Uniontown Baptist Church.
