Waneita (Allman) Cockerham, 89, of Brownstown, passed away Thursday, March 7, 2019 at the Hoosier Christian Village in Brownstown.

Born November 16, 1929 in Surprise, she was the daughter of Mance and Prudie Isabelle (Ferguson) Allman.

Waneita attended Hayes, Gallimore and Brownstown High School. She was a member of the Mt. Zion Church where she taught Sunday school for many years. Waneita worked for Morgan Foods, Frozen Food Lockers, the shirt factory and as a waitress at the Plaza Truck Stop. She volunteered for years at the Jackson Park Heritage House.

Waneita loved her family and friends. She especially enjoyed spending time with her grand children and her friends at Hoosier Christian Village. She enjoyed reading and loved the Lord with all her heart.

She is survived by her children, Terry (Julie) Cockerham of Brownstown and Vickie (Bob) Goldsberry of Medora; her eleven grandchildren; Jon and wife Crista, Jeremiah, Jordan and wife Melanie, Jena and husband Tyler, Tammatha and husband Bobby, Heather and husband Jeremy and Gabriel and fiance Shaney; her step grandchildren; Robbie, Rachel, Robin and Crystal; her great-grandchildren; Sydney, Dakota, Hope, Cody and his wife Samantha, Colton, Isabella, Julianne, Morgan, Lily, Rhett, Brandy and husband Rick, Jesse, Derrick and wife Nicole, Karis, Leiland, and Caleb; ten step great-grandchildren and several great-great and great-great-great grandchildren; her siblings, Jack (Jay) Allman, Larry (Lulu) Allman, Leon (Terri) Allman, Richard Allman, Randy (Linda) Allman, Phyllis (Albert) Zapfe, Lois (Buddy) Irvine and Carol Pennington; brother in law, Gene Hammond; sisters in law, Regina Allman and June Cockerham and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Thomas Cockerham, whom she married on November 23, 1949 and who passed on April 9, 2004; her siblings; Wanda Lavina, Clarice Imogene, Jesse “Bud”, Allen, Russell and Eileen and her brothers in law, John Pennington and Neil Cockerham; sister in law, Susie Hattabaugh.

Pastor Jerry Roberts will conduct service at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, March 12, 2019 at Mt. Zion Church. Burial will follow at the White River Valley Cemetery. Visitation will be held Monday from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Monday, March 11, 2019 at the Woodlawn Life Celebration Centre and on Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at the church. Memorials can be made at the funeral home to Mt. Zion Church or Hoosier Christian Nursing Home.
