The city council tentatively passed an ordinance to allow Seymour Clerk-Treasurer Fred Lewis to borrow up to $5 million from the Seymour Municipal Sanitation Utility on first reading Monday, but a request to suspend rules to have an immediate second reading failed to get a unanimous vote.
Councilman Matt Nicholson cast the dissenting vote but had voted to approve the ordinance on first read.
That information was unclear in a report about the meeting in Thursday’s edition of The Tribune.
The measure will be brought to the council for a final vote at the March 11 meeting.
