State police arrest three on drug charges

State police arrested three Seymour residents on drug charges in two separate incidents in recent days.

Betty Jo Skinner, 40, was arrested Wednesday afternoon after a traffic stop made by Trooper Randel Miller on Interstate 65 in Jackson County.

Skinner, who was a passenger in the vehicle, was arrested on possession of methamphetamine and possession of a narcotic drug after she was searched during the stop, according to a news release from state police post.

She was booked into the Jackson County Jail at 4:10 p.m. Wednesday and being held on $1,005 bond Saturday.

Steven Michael Venegas, 36, and Amanda Dawn Mikel, 25, were arrested early Thursday morning after the state police’s Criminal Patrol Team executed a search warrant at 745 Miller Lane in Seymour.

During that search, police reported they located approximately 38 grams of suspected methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia.

Venegas was booked into the jail at 1:06 a.m. Thursday on charges of dealing in methamphetamine, possession of methamphetamine, possession of paraphernalia and visiting/maintaining a common nuisance, while Mikel was booked into the jail at 1:22 a.m. Thursday on charges of possession of methamphetamine and visiting/maintaining a common nuisance. Both were being held without bond Saturday.
