The Jackson County Public Library board of finance conducted its annual meeting during a board of trustees meeting Jan. 21 at the Seymour Library.

Josh Bartley was elected president and Bob Schmielau secretary. The finance board also reviewed 2018 investments and approved a depository resolution.

Bartley and Schmielau serve as the same officers for the 2019 board of trustees with Vice President Kathy Ellis, Assistant Secretary Sally Crouch and Treasurer Mary Reed.

Crouch and Dan Davis took their oath of office for the board of trustees. Crouch was reappointed by Seymour Community School Corp. for a fourth and final term through December 2022, while Davis was appointed by the Jackson County Council for his first four-year term through December 2022. Davis replaces Susan Haskett, who had served two four-year terms on the board.

During the regular board meeting, Bartley appointed committees for the year: Budget, Schmielau (chairman), Crouch and Don Myers; nominating, Tammy Koerner (chairwoman), Schmielau and Davis; personnel, Ellis (chairwoman), Myers and Koerner; and strategic planning, Crouch (chairwoman), Davis and Ellis.

The board approved final 2018 and January financial reports and claims and personnel changes, revised 2019 closing dates and received a staff report from Library Administrator Mary Reed.

The board of trustees’ next regular meeting is Feb. 19 at the Seymour Library. The meeting is a day later than the usual third Monday due to the Presidents Day holiday.
