Linnie E. Deweese, 92, of Columbus, passed from this life at 4:35 p.m. Saturday, February 2, 2019 at the Columbus Regional Hospital.

Mrs. Deweese was formerly employed at McDowell Education Center for 17 years.

She was a member of 25th Street Church of Christ, Home Economics Club and Columbus Regional Hospital Auxillary and was a former volunteer at the Bloodmobile.

Linnie taught children Bible classes for several years.

She was very proud to receive her high school diploma at the age of 55.

Mrs. Deweese enjoyed crocheting, cross word puzzles, sewing, cooking and family gatherings.

Linnie was born July 11, 1926 in Columbus, the daughter of Ival and Edna Cook Hines.

She married Robert S. Deweese November 30, 1943, he preceded her in death February 9, 2009.

Survivors include her children, Bonnie Kanatzar of San Antonio, Texas, Charles (Sue) Deweese of Columbus, June Deweese (David) Megnin of Columbus, John (Ann) Deweese Greenwood and James (Jeanette) Deweese of Scipio; 15 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, Robert I. Deweese; granddaughter, Andrea Deweese; brother, Ival Hines; and sisters, June Fahy and Violet Smith.

The funeral will be conducted at 10:00 a.m. Friday at Barkes, Weaver & Glick Funeral Home on Washington Street with Jim Atkins, Wendell Seaborne and Michael Deweese officiating.

Family and friends may call from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thursday and 9:00 a.m. to time of service.

Entombment will be at Garland Brook Mausoleum.

Memorial contributions may be made to American Heart Association or American Cancer Society.
