James E. Prewitt, 68, Freetown, died Saturday, January 26, 2019. He was born November 30, 1950 in Lawrence County to Harry Everett and Mary Jane (Borden) Prewitt.

James enjoyed hunting, fishing and playing guitar.

He is survived by his wife Mary L. (Taylor) Prewitt, sons: Mark Andrew Prewitt of Freetown, Charles Daniel Prewitt of Norman, Joseph Lloyd Prewitt of Freetown and Mathew Lee Prewitt of Norman, daughters: Billie Jean (Patrick) Richey of Seymour, Christy Guthrie of Medora, Tonya Prewitt of Freetown, Teri Jones of Norman; brothers: Glen E. (Joy) Prewitt of Bedford, Dean (Maria), Charles (Veronica)and Dale Cooper of Hammond, sister: Brenda Cooper of Hammond, grandchildren: Jordan A. Prewitt of Seymour, Derrick, Payton and Jonah L. Prewitt of Brownstown, James McKinney of Seymour, Blaine Allman of Columbus and Rodney Sizemore of Seymour, Monika Thoele of Seymour, Daxx Richey, Angie Richey, Ella Richey of Seymour and great-granddaughter: Olivia Thoele of Seymour.

He was preceded in death by his parents, son: Paul James Prewitt, brothers: Harry L. Prewitt, Gerald Lee Prewitt and William Cooper.

Visitation will be from 4 – 8 p.m. Friday and from 9 a.m. – service time at 1 p.m. Saturday at Jones Funeral Home in Heltonville. Burial will be at Hickory Grove Cemetery with Pastor Dale Braker officiating.
