Tayler Garland, Brownstown Central basketball, senior

Accomplishments this past week: Garland broke the school record for 3-pointers in a career by hitting two in a 60-24 win over Hauser. She currently has 100 made 3-point shots for her career.

How were you able to perform to your fullest potential this past week?

“I came in, practiced hard and worked hard during games.”

“I shot the ball well.”

Do you do anything special to prepare?

“I just work hard during practice.”

Favorite drink: Sweet tea

Best advice?

“Never give up.”

If you could travel anywhere and why?

“Australia to see the outback.”

Athletics goals?

“To win sectional.”

Seth Borden, Brownstown Central basketball, senior

Accomplishments this past week: The Class 3A No. 11 Braves beat No. 6 Silver Creek. Borden had 14 points, including the game-winning free throw, three rebounds and five assists in the game.

How were you able to perform to your fullest potential this past week?

“Putting in the work every day at practice trying to be an impact player for my team.”

What did you do well?

“Getting to the free throw line and facilitating to the shooters on the team.”

Do you do anything special to prepare?

“Same thing I do before every home game: Eat with my family at the dinners in the cafeteria.”

Favorite book: “Ender’s Game”

Best advice?

“Just be you.”

If you could travel anywhere and why?

“I would go back to Hawaii because it is amazing there.”

Athletic goals?

“To go as far in the tournament as possible in both basketball and baseball. Make All-Conference in basketball and hopefully a North-South All-Star in baseball.”
