Owls advance four to state

Seymour High School will be represented by four grapplers at the 2019 Indiana High School Girls Wrestling State Finals Friday at Hamilton Heights High School.

Kate Snook, Emma Gillaspy, Ashley Trujillo and Jocelyn Soto all qualified for state after strong showings at last weekend’s IHSGW Regionals in Franklin.

Snook (160) and Gillaspy (170) each had runners-up honors in their weight classes while Trujillo (138) and Jocelyn Soto (170) both finished fourth.

Kylee Nowling (126) also competed for the Owls, but did not place.

Eagles fly past Tigers

NASHVILLE

Brown County led by 11 points after the first quarter and never looked back in a 73-36 win over Crothersville Tuesday.

The Tigers trailed 44-14 at intermission and 54-22 going into the fourth quarter.

Makayla Helt led the visitors with 12 points and Makinzee Isley added seven points and nine rebounds.

The Tigers (11-8) go to Jennings County Friday.
