NEW ALBANY

Indiana University Southeast sophomore Hannah Sipe has been named the River States Conference Setter of the Week, the conference announced Monday.

Sipe, a Seymour native, helped lead the Grenadiers to a 4-0 record in the first weekend of regular season play for IUS.

The Grenadiers defeated Life University in five sets before sweeping Shawnee State on Friday. On Saturday, they defeated the University of the Cumberlands in five sets and capped off the weekend by defeating Cumberland University in four sets.

Sipe averaged 5.71 assists per set last week and had more than 20 assists in each match, including a high of 27 against Cumberland University. She also leads the Grenadiers with 12 aces.

The Grenadiers returned to action Tuesday, visiting Frankfort, Kentucky, to take on Kentucky State and Concord College, before their 2018 home-opener against St. Mary-of-the-Woods on Thursday. The match is also Alumni Appreciation Night, and all former volleyball alumni are invited to attend.
